Thinking Beyond Borders is now accepting applications for 2013/14 gap year programs. We will continue accepting applications through June 2013 as space permits. Please note: the Global Gap Year itinerary is subject to change. To accomodate continued growth of TBB’s student body, an additional itinerary may be created that will include some, but not all, of the current core countries. 

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Thinking Beyond Borders (TBB) offers intensive Gap Year programs. They are both academic and service focused. Students will live, work, and learn in a variety of unique and challenging environments. Applicants must have a high degree of academic and personal motivation and the ability to adjust to different social and cultural norms. Our application process is thorough to ensure Thinking Beyond Borders offers the right program for you. Applicants must be between 17 and 20 years of age and no more than one full academic year may pass between the time of high school graduation and enrollment in TBB.

APPLICATION MATERIALS

Your application will consist of the following materials:

  • Web form application (including short questions)
  • One (1) academic reference
  • One (1) community reference
  • School transcript

Separate reference forms will be sent directly to the contacts you provide in your application. References are responsible for completing these forms and sending them directly to TBB. Instructions for submitting your transcript will be sent upon receipt of your application.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT…

Once we receive all of your application materials, including references, our admissions committee will review your application. You will then be contacted by TBB staff within one week to update your status or schedule an in-person interview. A TBB staff member will interview you and your parent or guardian.

Offers of admission will be made within three weeks of the interview. You will then have two weeks to reserve your space in the program with a $500 deposit. After we receive your deposit, you will be sent information on how to prepare for your TBB program. This will include visa materials, a TBB Student Medical Form, and other items specific to your program.
